Tank Trouble Tuesday


A fueling facility in Tanknology's Gulf Coast region requested a TankCam® inspection of a 10,000 gallon fiberglass tank to inspect for undesirable conditions or abnormal operating conditions. The tank held unleaded.

The TankCam inspection revealed discoloration and residue throughout the tank. Blistering, flaking, and peeling were also seen in the tank. Sediment and debris were found on the tank bottom and heavy corrosion and leaks were found in the sump.

Tank Trouble Tuesday


A fueling facility in Tanknology's Western Plains region requested a TankCam® inspection of a 10,000 gallon fiberglass tank to inspect for undesirable conditions or abnormal operating conditions. The tank held unleaded.

The TankCam inspection revealed mainly cosmetic blemishes in the tank. The tank bottom was obscured by the product and drips into the product pool was observed during vacuum, largely near endcap top seam at the fill end of the tank.

A fueling facility in Tanknology's Western Plains region requested a TankCam® inspection of a 10,000 gallon fiberglass tank to inspect for undesirable conditions or abnormal operating conditions. The tank held Jet A.

The TankCam inspection revealed corrosion in the ATG riser pipe. Residue was observed on bottom and sides of tank and a float from floating suction system was found in the product.

Tank Trouble Tuesday


A fueling facility in Tanknology's Southeast region requested a TankCam® inspection of a 12,000 gallon steel tank to inspect for undesirable conditions or abnormal operating conditions. The tank held diesel.

The TankCam inspection revealed water dripping down the exterior of the back siphon tube and showed a buildup of possible microorganism growth or calcium deposits. The tank bottom exhibited a build up of sludge, oxidation, corrosion, debris, and water. Other metallic components of the tank, including the riser and tank top, also exhibited corrosion.

The TankCam inspection revealed oxidation, residue, and minor corrosion in the tank. The inspection also showed unusual stains at striker plate and the seam between side and endcap of the tank.

Tank Trouble Tuesday


 A fueling facility in Tanknology's Northeast region requested a TankCam® inspection of a 12,000 gallon fiberglass tank to inspect for undesirable conditions or abnormal operating conditions. The tank held regular unleaded.

The TankCam inspection revealed a build-up of sediment on the tank bottom. Some residue build-up was observed on the tank walls near the product line and white discoloration was seen on the top of the tank. Some peeling of a surface film was observed, but appeared to have no effect on the integrity of the fiberglass itself. Some corrosion was observed in the manway around the STP.

A fueling facility in Tanknology's Gulf Coast region requested a TankCam® inspection of a 6,000 gallon fiberglass tank to inspect for undesirable conditions or abnormal operating conditions. The tank held diesel.

The TankCam inspection revealed sludge and debris along tank bottom. The inspection also showed wrinkling of tape along the end dome seam. After a TankClean treatment to clean the tank, the TankCam showed no signs of integrity issues.

A fueling facility in Tanknology's Southwest region requested a TankCam® inspection of a 10,000 gallon fiberglass tank to inspect for undesirable conditions or abnormal operating conditions. The tank held midgrade unleaded.

The TankCam inspection revealed a build-up of residue on much of the lower half of the tank surface. Areas of possible blistering and/or flaking were observed through the residue on the tank walls and endcaps. The inspection also showed possible moisture staining on the tank walls. A drip was seen coming from the STP area and white streaking and staining were observed on the top and walls of the tank.

A fueling facility in Tanknology's Southeast region requested a TankCam® inspection of a 10,000 gallon fiberglass tank to inspect for undesirable conditions or abnormal operating conditions. The tank held premium unleaded.

The TankCam inspection revealed fluid dripping from ATG bung at a rate of about 3 drops each minute. The ATG bung and riser appeared to be bent and a white horizontal stain was observed around the tank perimeter.  One side of tank had small horizontal stains with no apparent source of ingress. Cosmetic blemishes were observed throughout the tank.

The TankCam inspection revealed oxidation and corrosion throughout the tank. Corrosion was seen on ATG riser and an spparent ingress of water was observed in ATG riser and near STP bung. Ripples caused by drops falling from near STP bung were observed during the test.
