Tank Trouble Tuesday

A fueling facility in Tanknology's Gulf Coast region requested a TankCam® inspection of a 10,000 gallon, fiberglass tank to inspect for undesirable conditions or abnormal operating conditions. The tank held super unleaded.

The TankCam inspection revealed no active ingress during the video inspection, but several possible points of ingress were found, including multiple possible pinholes on the endcap, possible weeping at the tank seam and staining/corrosion at several bungs. Much of the tank bottom was obscured by a build-up of sludge, debris, and residual liquid and blistering was present on the tank surfaces, most noticeably near the tank seam.

Tank Trouble Tuesday

A fueling facility in Tanknology's Gulf Coast region requested a TankCam® inspection of a 10,000 gallon, steel tank to inspect for undesirable conditions or abnormal operating conditions. The tank held super unleaded.

The TankCam inspection revealed oxidation and minor corrosion in the tank with some corrosion along the tank walls. Sludge, debris, liquid covered the tank bottom and a drip was seen at the STP riser. Moisture was visible on the tank top near  the STP riser and two other access points.

Tank Trouble Tuesday

A fueling facility in Tanknology's Gulf Coast region requested a TankCam® inspection of a 10,000 gallon, fiberglass tank to inspect for undesirable conditions or abnormal operating conditions. The tank held regular unleaded.

The TankCam inspection revealed an active ingress through a crack in the endcap near the seam at the end of the tank. Residue was seen throughout the tank along with flaking and peeling. Before suction, bottom of tank obscured by product. After product removed, ingress source identified.
