Tank Trouble Tuesday

A fueling facility in Tanknology's Ohio Valley region requested a TankCam® inspection of an 8,000 gallon lined, singlewall steel tank to visually confirm water ingress. 

The inspection revealed active ingress on the tank bottom and several areas that resemble possible points of ingress on the lower tank wall and endcap. The inspection also revealed a section of lining that had separated from the tank wall as well as lining damage around two corroded bungs.

A fueling facility in Tanknology's Southern California region requested a TankCam® inspection of a 10,000 gallon singlewall fiberglass tank.

The inspection revealed severe flaking on most surfaces as well as a build up of sludge and liquid at the bottom of the tank. No cracks were observed in the tank but the TankCam inspection also found a broken tank stick at the bottom of the tank. While the tank was not currently in use, Tanknology recommended diligent monitoring of the leak detection results and periodic follow-up inspections to detect possible crack formation, until the tank can be repaired or removed.

A retail fueling facility in Tanknology's Southeast region requested a TankCam® inspection of their singlewall fiberglass tank to verify ingress in a tank that failed a VacuTect® tightness test. 

The TankCam inspection revealed bubbling from a leak under the product. The bubbling originated from a stress fracture along the side seam of the tank.
